Nia White Belt Training takes you on a journey of self-discovery by exploring the art of sensation through 13 principles for body-centered awareness. 

Each principle teaches you a variety of skills and practices to increase your body literacy - the ability to listen to your body - and empowers you to make choices that enhance health and total well-being on and off the dance floor.

Nia White Belt teaches you the Art of Sensation through five core areas of study:

  • Movement - the study of moving, health + potential 

  • Anatomy - the study of body design, parts + systems 

  • Science - the study of body awareness, health + vitality

  • Music - the study of sound, health + expression

  • Philosophy - the study of the body's inherent wisdom


This 16-Week Online Training Includes:

Nia's somatic training for trained, certified and / or accredited coaches with the ICF or another recognized coaching body with Dorit Noble PCC CPCC ORSCC ICF registered mentor for many years. 


Nia’s somatic online training will blend both cognitive knowledge and theory of the body’s way as well as kinesthetic experiencing of the many different somatic practices and principles using somatic movement and Nia’s language of the 52 moves.

Every part of the body, through our felt-sense, has the power to influence our mindset, our ability to make decisions and our ability to gather information and be 100% present moment by moment.

Sensing, seeing, listening, smelling, tasting, thinking, feeling, expressing, all of which arise the body and from the relationship we have with our body, is our connection to aliveness.  A deeper sense and spark of wholeness which comes from this somatic connection to life, gives us greater access to to our own aliveness and our own limitless potential. 

Taught in a creative, interactive atmosphere online and in person when circumstances allow, the Nia Whitebelt training uses direct, present moment experiences to intimately connect you to the experience of the nested system of the physical, mental, emotional and unique parts of the self. 

All Nia training education is based on five core areas of study: philosophy, science, anatomy, listening, and movement. These combine the learning methods of somatic awareness, movement work, cognitive discussion, and interactive group sessions. 

To ensure the best learning outcomes, lessons build from simple to complex.  The methodology uses direct movement to increase our ability to be in the felt-sense of our body which in turn trains a key skill of body-based thinking and body-based feeling.

Learning to draw on the felt-sense in order to gain self-trust, body confidence, and achieve personal mastery.   As a coach this training will expand your ability to lead groups, hold the space online and in person as well as bring an expanded far greater layer of awareness in the coaching sessions of the unconscious conversation that is happening in the relationship between you and your coach.
The way that your coachee shows up in relationship and communicates, is a mirror for all their relationships and is a key part of supporting their transformation into who they are becoming in relationship with themselves and in relationship with the other in their life.

The Nia Intensive experience empowers everyBody to take their practice and their life the next level. The Nia White Belt training is the art of the felt-sense.

The Nia training faculty has been providing somatic education since 1983. It offers the very best in somatic education, personal development and becoming a body-centred coach.


1.Nia classes

These are sensory-based movement classes blending martial arts, dance and yoga. Nia classes are a tiny segment of this incredible body of work and are optional on the online training.

2.Nia somatic trainings

Nia offers different levels of somatic training - like in martial arts there’s a belt system of white, blue, brown and black belts

This is the Whitebelt training - the foundational belt of certifying in somatics and becoming a body-centred coach.

We will meet for 16 weeks (one two hour live session per week on zoom) 


In between each live session Dorit will offer 40 minute pod calls for coaches where you will go over the experience you had in the live session, what you learnt and how to apply that learning directly to your coaching business with clients.

Dorit Noble

My name is Dorit, I'm delighted to meet you here. I stumbled on Nia 16 years ago in Cape Town, South Africa while on holiday and my life and body changed forever. I had no intention of teaching Nia, just being a happy student. When I got back to London and discovered there were no classes, sheer desperation led me to take the training six months later and now here I am. Nia is a Mind Body Soul dance that is a pathway to self knowing through the wisdom of your body. I am the UK's resident Nia white belt Trainer and in February 2014 I was awarded Nia Trainer of the Year by the Nia Training Faculty. Nia is the ultimate personal development journey through the body. If you love your nia classes which really is just 5% of what nia is about, the whitebelt and other trainings will take you into the other 95% of what nia's body of work is about. This incredible journey into the body and the art of the felt-sense, transforms lives by shifting to a life lived in the body where all decisions and choices come through your body and physical sensation. Nia is empowering, graceful, playful and tender and the very very best in somatic education. I was invited to become a trainer after bringing Nia to London and building the Nia London community of teachers. Before finding the Nia Technique I worked as an Opera Singer for my local house CAPAB in Cape Town as well as small Opera companies such as British Youth Opera in the UK. I believe that this work transforms every life it touches, I would love it to touch yours.

Laurie Bass

Laurie Bass is an international Nia® teacher-trainer, yoga instructor, Gyrotonic® teacher and life coach. She holds BA degrees in Mathematics and Psychology from Pacific University, Oregon. Laurie honed entrepreneurial skills in the specialty coffee industry before discovering Nia® and pursuing her passion as mind/body educator in 2003. She believes that movement as medicine. Laurie masterfully blends somatic wisdom, leadership and coaching to create transformative movement experiences. She is committed to inspiring others on the path of self-discovery, self-healing and self-mastery.

Anyone can take the Nia white Belt; no experience is required. The Nia White Belt is adaptable to all levels of fitness, experience and abilities.


After you graduate as a Nia White Belt, you are invited to continue your Nia journey through one of three Nia Membership paths:

  • Dancing Through Life: For the passionate and committed Nia graduate

  • Sacred Athlete: For the Nia graduate interested in learning and practicing teaching skill

  • Sacred Livelihood: For aspiring Nia Teaching Professionals

If you do not choose to become a Nia member, you will have access to your online training portal for 2 weeks after your training graduation.

Registration and instruction fees are non-refundable. Should you cancel your registration more than 30 days prior to the training start date, the registration fee will be credited to your Nia account. Should you cancel your registration less than 30 days prior to the training start date, you will incur a cancellation fee of $250 which will be deducted from your registration fee. The remaining balance will be credited to your Nia account.
